Session One: Building Trust & Respect
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM PST
This session will focus on the foundation of the Lazy Oaks program: building trust, creating respect, reading the horse, and developing a safer, more willing partner from the ground up.
Topics may include:
Reading the horse’s body language
Building confidence without creating pushiness
Establishing boundaries without fear
Catching, touching, and early handling concepts
Creating calm, respectful responses
Understanding timing, release, and pressure
Session Two: Desensitization
2:00 PM – 5:00 PM PST
This session will focus on desensitization and preparing horses to confidently handle real-world situations.
Topics may include:
Desensitizing without overwhelming the horse
Teaching horses to think instead of react
Introducing new objects, movement, sound, and pressure
Building confidence through controlled exposure
Understanding when to advance and when to slow down
Applying desensitization to practical everyday handling
Watching both sessions is recommended for the most complete understanding of the Lazy Oaks program, as trust, respect, and desensitization work together to create a safer, more confident horse.
